We are "von den blauen Bergen", a USA registered kennel dedicated to the German Shepherd breed. Located in Virginia we strive to breed German Shepherd dogs that are healthy and have the temperament for work and play.

As breeders we adhere to the breed regulations set by the German Shepherd Dog Club in Germany (SV). Before a German Shepherd puppy can be registered in the SV breed book, its sire and dam must have attained a show rating, passed an endurance test and achieved working title. The hips are evaluated by x-ray and a breed value forecasting hip production is calculated (ZW). A DNA profile is established to allow verification of ancestry.

Within this system the dogs that achieve a VA (excellent select) rating at the BSZS (national show) are considered the best of the breed. To give our puppies the chance to be among the best we select all of our breeding stock from VA rated parents,SchH3 - thereby ensuring the correct conformation and working temperament in our lines.

We show at every opportunity and plan our breedings to produce puppies that can succeed in the conformation ring, are superb family companions and have the temperament for work.

For breeders of the German Shepherd Dog the Schutzhund title is both a test of good temperament and working ability, where tracking, obedience and protection work are demanded. To find out more about the work, please visit the Schutzhund Village.
